The Prince rocked in his film Pokiri, which was laced liberally with high-voltage violence and directed by Puri Jagannath. Mahesh's cool dude looks, the way he mouthed the dialogues and his well-orchestrated fights helped him carry the film on his shoulders. A wafer thin script with a good screenplay, Pokiri was hugely successful.
All the gains came crashing down with Sainikudu, a movie that was keenly awaited for the combo of director Gunasekhar and actor Mahesh. The pair could not repeat the magic of Okkadu.
