Tracy became the youngest player to win a professional tournament when she won a title in Portland, Oregon, aged a mere 14 years and 28 days.

She also became the youngest US Open champion when she took the Grand Slam in 1979, aged 16. Tracy helped herself to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Chris Evert, who was gunning for her fifth successive US Open title, in the final.

Back injuries and recurring sciatica problems set her back, keeping her away from the game for long periods of time.

By 1983, aged 21, she had ran out of steam and played more on the doubles tour.

She attempted a comeback after a major accident in 1989, but finally called it quits in 1993.
