"The US mission in India is now the largest our government has in the world today, outside Iraq. It reflects the nature and diversity of our relationship which has grown in recent years to include nearly every kind of public and private engagement."
Hailing the signing of the Indo-US Nuclear agreement, Mulford said, "The US-India strategic partnership is broad, deep and flourishing. The unprecedented growth of US India collaboration during the past four years encompasses everything from defence cooperation to agriculture and reflects the widespread support in both countries both for broadening existing ties and building new ones," Mulford said.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, expressing his happiness, said it would bring benefits to the people of the state. "Having the consulate here means avoding at least 65000 to 70,000 trips form Hyderabad to Chennai every year for US visa," he said.
