Kaine asserted, "It is important that we all have a seat at the table".
"We have got a lot of work to do between now and November to make sure we are successful".
He said a new poll in Virginia found that it would be a close call between Republican presidential nominee John McCain and Obama in a state that hasn't gone Democratic in a presidential election since 1964. "But we got the energy and the enthusiasm to win and it is up to you’ll to keep helping us in Virginia and elsewhere".
Kaine predicted, "We are going to reclaim the White House and turn our economy around and have a better national security policy that will make us strong again".
"Obama brings and extraordinary diversity of experience of talent to the challenge of taking America in a new direction," Steny Hoyer told the audience.
