He thanked the Indian American community for "the support that you are giving the Democratic Party and thank you for helping us elect Barack Obama as the next President of the United States".
Kaine, who was in the short list of vice presidential candidates before Obama chose Senator Joe Biden, was given a rousing introduction by Chopra, "Welcome to a winning week for a winning ticket -- Barack Obama and Joe Biden."
He said that in his cabinet, either as cabinet secretaries of deputy secretaries, he had three Indians "and it's been great and out of three I've gotten the work of 10".
