In 1922 a group of youngsters started the Veer Maratha Mela here. At that time, there was only a small idol in a shop.

The small idol's popularity grew over the years, but it was only after Independence that the Nav Chaitanya Mandal was formed. Besides the Ganeshotsav, the Mandal organised social welfare programmes.

Now, bhajans and kirtans keep the tradition alive.

This year, the main attraction of the Nav Chaitanya Mandal Ganeshotsav is dancing lights.
