Manoj Kumar is one of the busiest police officers on Republic Day as a major segment of the parade route travels through his precinct.

It is in this part of Rajpath where the President takes the salute.

Lall's unending sequence of meetings with various ministries and intelligence agencies began in November and will continue till the Beating Retreat function on January 29.

Spending almost 16 to 18 hours a day as the officer in-charge, Republic Day, also means ensuring that the event passes off uneventfully. He has to meticulously deploy 10,000 men and take care of important government buildings including Rashtrapati Bhavan.

"I will be a relieved man once the Beating Retreat event is over. I am glad the Republic Day event passed off without incident despite terrorist threats."

-- Onkar Singh
