The last and the fourth day of Diwali celebrates the bond between sisters and brothers. This day is known by various names -- Bhai Duj in the north, Bhau Beej in Maharashtra, Bhai Phot in Bengal.

According to legend Yamraj, the god of death, visited his sister Yami on this day. Happy with his sister for applying a tilak on his forehead Yamraj announced that anyone who receives a tilak from his sister would be relieved of all his sins. That is why Bhai Duj is also called Yama Dwitiya.

People buy sweets and dry fruit boxes packed in attractive wrappings as gifts for the friends and family.
