Ramesh Rawale start getting orders about five months before Ganesh Chaturthi. His artisans need about four months to sculpt, mould and paint the idols.

Some of the idols being built are as high as 23 feet. Rawale has a workshop close by in Lalbaug that takes order for idols whose minimum height is 8 feet.

Many Ganesh Mandals prefer taking delivery of the extraordinarily tall idols at least a month in advance. Such idols need 15 to 20 people to transfer it to a vehicle. The idol under construction here is 22 feet tall and costs Rs 75,000.
