Considered to be her career-best performance, Daman won Raveena Tandon a [rather controversial] National award for Best Actress. To her credit, the star delivers a powerful, compelling act.

Directed by Kalpana Lajmi, Daman tells the story of a silently suffering Durga [Tandon]. Married off to a much older, vile, tea plantation owner in Assam, a submissive Durga is a victim of marital rape and abuse.

Her failure to protest builds up within, establishing a resolve to not let her daughter [Raima Sen] meet the same fate.
