Piyush Mishra
Role: I play Prithvi Bana, Kay Kay's elder brother. Prithvi has stayed in London in the 1970s and has been educated in Cambridge University. He is a great admirer of John Lennon. Living in London, he sees how progressive the world is. But when he returns to India, he finds his brother is still stuck in a small world, and has not progressed at all.
People like him. But since he is so liberal, he is under house arrest. So at home, he gets involved in theatre, composing and writing songs. He becomes insane towards the end.
Composing Gulaal's music: This is the first time that I have composed music for a film. I used to compose revolutionary song during my street theatre days.
Anurag heard me singing my revolutionary songs when we were sitting together in Delhi after Paanch got stuck. He liked it so much that he asked me to compose the music for Gulaal. He bought me a harmonium for this. I composed eight tracks in seven days. I wrote the lyrics too.
All the songs are a tribute to (legendary lyricist) Sahir Ludhianvi and other poets, especially Duniya which says: Yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye toh kya hai. This is line from Sahir's song from the film Pyaasa.
