"I have never wept in my life continuously for two days. I did cry only on two occasions; when my father died and when my most ambitious venture Ekaangi failed at the box office. Though I cried in joy during the Amruta Mahotsava rehearsal, after the inauguration, I cried for two days. I did not even bother to take food," said a disappointed Ravichandran who is yet to come to terms with the organisational failures that made the three-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations a massive flop show.
"In the history of Kannada film industry, nothing like this has happened. There were veterans and young artists who vied with each other to give their best dance performances on a live show for the celebration.
"They sacrificed fifteen days of their work schedule and showed an exemplary sense of discipline and dedication by being part of a grand cultural event. We had planned everything in detail. There was a big assembly of directors, dance directors and other technicians who had worked with me.
"But see what happened. All our efforts went down the drain and we had to face flak because of the mismanagement of the film chamber," Ravichandran added.
