Akku Akbar
Film: Veruthe Oru Bharya

Malayalam film Veruthe Oru Bharya had nothing in its favour when it started, as director Akku Akbar, scenarist K Gireesh Kumar and hero Jayaram were quite low in their careers. But this film changed their fortunes.

Veruthe Oru Bharya had a simple story. Fed up of her egoistic husband, his wife decides to quit her job as a homemaker. That's when all hell broke loose.

Families saw a Sugunan (Jayaram's character) in every home, and identified with him. That was the film's core success. The film made Akku Akbar one of the most sought after directors in the industry.
