Kannada film Gulabi Talkies is a real masterpiece. Based on a story by Vaidehi, Gulabi Talkies had Girish Kasaravalli's stamp of brilliance in every frame. The film dealt with contemporary issues like globalisation and economic reforms.

It won the Best Film Award and the lead actress Umashri won the Best Actress award in the Osian film festival.
