When my father saw the scene where I smoke and drink, he said that it must remain on reel, and not in real life. My father is against smoking and drinking. Even holding an empty cigarette pack is a sin. In fact, when he learnt that I was going to act out this scene, he was devastated. But then it was an international film; they did not want to let go of a golden opportunity.
My parents are doctors but I don't want to become one. I want to be part of a creative field. I want to explore -- become either an actor or an automobile engineer. My parents aren't happy with my decision.
People don't recognise me on the streets because I look very different in Slumdog. But sometimes, people do ask me for autographs. Recently, I had gone to Barista. Someone recognised me and I got free coffee.
Recently, I was invited to a Republic Day function. The other guests were Jiah Khan, Amrita Rao and Harman Baweja.
My favourite actor was Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp and Hrithik Roshan. I got a chance to meet him at the Slumdog Millionaire premiere. Everyone was trying to get his attention. Finally, I got a chance to talk to him. I asked him whether he had watched Slumdog, and he said no. I told him that he was my favourite actor. He said that I was a part of the industry now, and that we don't have to look up to anyone.
I met Arshad Warsi too. He is the most down-to-earth person I have seen. He met everyone, and hugged all of us. Rubina and Azharuddin were climbing on him and he was cool with that!
