Ash sets record but...

If most reviewers do not mention her, it is because she has just about has just about 10 minutes in the 92-minute-long new Pink Panther which arrived in the theatres last week.

The film, which cost an estimated $50 million and was released by Sony, grossed an anemic $12 million in its first three days. It will be lucky to make $100 million. The previous Panther, also starring Martin, grossed a decent $170 million worldwide.

Many publications gave the film one (out of four) stars, and criticised every aspect of the movie, not just Ash. The film has some of the best known character artists in Hollywood but they too came for harsh notices.

'What lured the supporting cast, stars whose careers will forever be marred by their participation in The Pink Panther 2, is anyone's guess,' wrote Toronto Star.

'John Cleese, as Clouseau's long-suffering superior, Chief Inspector Dreyfus; Andy Garcia, Jean Reno, Alfred Molina, Yuki Matsuzaki and South Asian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Clouseau's nitwit sidekick...'
