Antenna theme
Another theme is the intrusion of modernity through television, which Girish has introduced in a very dramatic scene where a very huge TV dish is brought to the village by a speed boat with the villagers looking on in awestruck wonder.
I used an electronic modern kind of music then, not the kind of music you have heard in Girish's other films. It was like an alien entering the village. The music was also to tell the audience that it was a kind of celebration.
Once television came to her house, it became the talkies.
Ship theme
We have another theme that of a ship in the film which is actually Gulabi's dream. Girish has used it as a motif. I used the same kind of melody that I used for the arrival of the dish, sometimes it is just the sound of waves breaking on the rocky shores.
Girish doesn't make the comment that modernity corrupts; he only shows the strange changes that happen because of modernity.
