The film marked Kamal Haasan's return to the Kannada cinema after more than 16 years.

This Kannada remake of the Tamil film, Sathi Leelavathi featured Kamal Haasan and Ramesh Arvind.

The Tamil movie was directed by Balu Mahendra while the Kannada remake version was made by Ramesh Arvind.

Under Guru Kiran, Kamal sang the song Swaapaana Raathriyaaythu, Jagarane Kaathriyaaythu, which was a rage at that time.

The film was eminently watchable and a commercial hit too.
