Kamal has played guest roles in many Kannada movies of K Balachander. In Benkiyalli Aralidha Hoovu (a remake of the Tamil film Aval Oru Thodar Kathai), Kamal played a five-minute role of a bus conductor.

Suhasini, Kamal's niece played the lead role in the Kannada version.
