Marathi cinema rules the box office!

So what has caused the sudden change?

It started last November with the release of actor-director Ankush Chaudhari's Sade Made Teen by Zee Talkies. This remake of Kishore Kumar's Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi starred Marathi cinema's most popular stars, Ashok Saraf, Bharat Jadhav and Makrand Aanaspure.

The film was a hit and the resultant houseful shows made the erstwhile reluctant multiplex owners sit up and take notice.

Since then, Sade Made Teen has crossed Rs 6 crores at the box office -- a major achievement for a Marathi film in recent years. The success of this film opened multiplex doors to Marathi cinema like never before.
