Marathi cinema rules the box office!

After the success of Sade Made Teen, about 20-25 Marathi films have premiered at the multiplexes. With a few exceptions, all the films have made their mark at the box office.

After De Dhakka and Sade Made Teen, the biggest 2008 hits so far, is Valu. It is still going strong after crossing Rs 3 crores, according to Ram Kondilkar, a public relations officer, who helped debutant director Umesh Kulkarni with the film's publicity.

The success story got better with Tingya, a touching film by first-time director Mangesh Hadwale. Already a winner of numerous national and international awards, Tingya has grossed Rs 2 crores.

Other films that have made an impact include Ashwini Bhave's award-winning film Kadachit, Sanjay Surkar's Sakhi, Mahesh Kothari's Full Three Dhamal, Sachin's Aamhi Saatpute and Shreyas Talpade's production, Sanai Chaughade.
