After courting controversy with Madhyanam Hathya a few years ago (the caption of the film which read, Did you ever wish your wife was dead? evoked strong protests from the women's groups in Hyderabad and the film had to be taken off from the theatres), Chakri as he is known, was almost missing from the scene.

Now he is back with a bang with Homam (slated for release on August 28), which he has scripted, acted, directed and even composed the music for. It's his first directorial venture in Telugu and as a music director too.

"Homam is in the genre and family of Gayam, (a film made by his mentor Ram Gopal Varma a few years ago with Jagapathi Babu in the lead role) Chakri says. Jagapathi Babu stars in Homam too.

Chekravarthy reveals more about Homam and it's sequel Marana Homam to Rahikha Rajamani. Excerpts:

Homam is an interesting title. What made you choose this title? Has it anything to do with the ritual?

I am using the title symbolically. Homam is actually performed for a good cause. Homam is performed even for rains.
