The word had gone around that it could be Amitabh's last live performance; but after the event was over, many people wondered if he could ever keep away from films or live shows.
The 66-year-old actor, who will be seen in at least six major films in the next 12 months -- including Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next and films to be directed by R Balki (who made Cheeni Kum) -- said last week that he found live shows a welcome break from his hectic cinema world.
Injecting a serious note into the proceedings, the show also heard urgent and heartfelt appeals to conserve energy in the age of global warming.
The producers of the show, Wizcraft, had a short educational film highlighting the success of solar energy projects across India. Aishwarya made a fervent appeal about saving energy, saying that Mother Earth is speaking to the people with a clear message.
Then she invited mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan to the stage, who urged people to support organisations such as TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute, www.teriin.org) led by R K Pachauri, chief of the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
