So, you wanted to record the problems people like Moosa face today, 60 years after independence…
Yes, I wanted to record it for posterity. You do not know the problems he had to face because of the partition. His wife and child were in far away Kerala while he was trapped in another country.
Can I say it is the story of a man who lives as a paradesi in his own country?
Exactly. The story is based on the lives of many such men. I called him Moosa. But as I was writing the script, I met the son of one Moosa whose life was similar to my character's. The strange coincidence was that his father and my character were born in the same year. Moosa and his father also died in the same year. Then, I got the diary of this man and later changed my script based on his experiences.
