Is the story of Moosa based on any one particular person?
I wrote the story based on many real life characters.
Because Moosa got trapped in Pakistan during partition, he could come back to his own village and his family only with a Pak passport. So, when the police came to know about his extended stay, he was deported to Pakistan. Such people come back again. This happens regularly.
What was the inspiration for you to make a film on a man like Moosa?
The idea came to mind when I read a report about the police arresting an 80-year old man in a village, to deport him back to Pakistan. But only after I started shooting did I come to know that there are hundreds of people in many villages in Kerala in similar circumstances.
