Are you telling the story of Moosa at the time partition took place?
No, the story takes place today, when Moosa is in his eighties. He is an 80-year old man throughout the entire film. A journalist called Usha goes to do a story on him and while he narrates his story, we get the flashbacks.
Why did you think of Mohanlal for the role, when Moosa is an 80-year old in most parts of the film?
That is because Mohanlal is a great actor. His age in the film ranges from 35 to 80. So, can you think of anybody else who can portray such a range with finesse?
Moreover, if I had taken an 80-year old man, he would not be able to act as a 35 year old or 50 year old.
This character will be a turning point in Mohanlal's career; he was simply superb in the film.
