Pachaikili Muthucharam: The most eagerly awaited Tamil film of 2007!

He is one of the hottest young directors in Tamil. His last two films were blockbusters and on February 16, one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2007 will hit the theatres.

Yes, we are talking about Gautham Menon and his new film Pachaikili Muthucharam. Rediff.com caught up with the busy director for a chat.

An excerpt:

Any release blues?

Yes…yes. That is why I am not going to be in town for the release. For my last films I have always been busy checking prints and going to the theatres to see how my film is faring. But this time I don’t want to go through all that tension again, though that is unavoidable.

Where are you planning to hide?

I haven’t decided, though I would be leaving Chennai tonight. It will be an unplanned journey.

All alone?

Yes. I am going to write the script for my next film.

Aren’t you curious to know how your film will fare?

I am bothered. I can never say that I am not bothered about what people think of my film; I am really affected by their reaction. But this time I thought I could do without those tense moments. I have also decided not to carry my phone with me. However, I will check how my film fares on the Net.

Are you very confident about your film?

You can say that, but I must admit that I’m very tense. It was after a lot of hiccups that your last film Vettayadu Vilayadu hit the screens but it turned out to be a blockbuster. So, people are expecting a lot from this film.
