Telugu idol Chiranjeevi's father Venkat Rao, 76, passed away after a brief illness in Hyderabad on
Rao died at his residence in the posh Jubilee Hills locality of the city at 6 am, Chiranjeevi's younger brother Nagendra Babu told reporters. Rao had been suffering from a heart-related ailment for a few months.
He worked in the excise department of the Andhra Pradesh government and retired as a superintendent at Nellore. Rao had also acted in a few films. He is survived by three sons and two daughters: the eldest is Chiranjeevi, Nagendra Babu is a noted producer, and Pavan Kalyan is a successful actor.
