Sunidhi: Your favourite song of Omkara is Nayan Thag Le Le. Can you tell us why?
Gulzar: Poetry with Vishal Bharadwaj is always fascinating. He has immense knowledge of poetry. This song is folk and semi-classical. The simplicity of folk song is incomparable. They are woven in our daily life.
Manish: Hats off to your songs, Gulzarsaab. 'Aankhe bhi kamaal karti hai, personal sawal karti hai'. Your mix of English and Hindi (in Kajra re) is fabulous. How do you do it?
Gulzar: I learnt this from your generation. The youth of today talk in a language, which is a mix of English and Hindi. This new language is still raw but given time, it will evolve into a beautiful language. You all are my teachers. Each era brings a new generation and in turn, each generation brings a new era.
Sunidhi: One more peculiar habit you have is that you don't carry a cell phone.
Gulzar: Yes. I don't think I'm losing out on anything by not carrying a cell phone. Everyone keeps a cell nowadays and making calls on the cell is not expensive any longer. So if I ever want to contact someone, I just look around and ask someone for his cell and make the call (laughs). Besides, I am spared of the tension of its safekeeping.
