Sunidhi: There was a terrific chemistry between you and Panchamda. Can you tell us something about him?
Gulzar: He was sportsman and a player. We worked together in the 1970s. I am impressed by the fact that you seem to be well acquainted with our association though you were not on the scene then. I would like to compliment you for the way you have blossomed in life.
Coming back to Panchamda. For our first song together Main musafir hoon yaaron, we were discussing the song late into the night, driving around the empty roads of Mumbai. At 4am, he got out of the car and started demonstrating the rhythm on the bonnet of the car.
Sunidhi: You are not from this world. Your writing transcends this world.
Gulzar: I find the cosmos very fascinating. The sky, which looks quiet, and the vacuum between earth and sun are very deceptive. I know that there is lot of noise and activity going on in the universe. Sometimes at night when I am walking under the stars, I start thinking of poetry. I get the eerie feeing that on some other planet, there is another living being walking around like me and his thoughts flow through my pen on to the paper.
