I cannot talk much about the film except that we predominantly used black as the colour for the film -- for the set design, lighting scheme and costumes -- in tune with the film's title and story.

We have given a light-and-shade look to the film. Even though black dominates, it is a very glossy film. Like Kaagaz Ke Phool. It is a stylised film.

In fact, when Sanjay told me the story, I decided to use a Kaagaz Ke Phool kind of format. But Black is a very big film though it is conceived to be `small'.

We finished the film in about 100 days. In between we had a fire mishap, and our set was burnt down. But we collected

ourselves and, within a week, we put up another set and started shooting again.

We finished shooting in August. But I have not taken up any film after that because I want to be available for the post-production work like colour-correction, etc. This is a very important film for me. Very rarely do you get to shoot a film like this, where the entire team is very passionate.
