Myanmar scored 1.4 points -- as against 2 in the previous survey. It ranks 179th in the most corrupt nations list. The Indian neighbour shares the dubious distinction of being the world's most corrupt nation with Somalia.
Reasons for Myanmar's deterioration:
Insurgency
Lack of transparency on the part of the ruling military junta
Widespread violence and protests in recent times
