'Despite annoyances we had a nice time'

The hotel rates are quite steep compared to the type of accommodation and facilities. The rooms could have been cleaner and more comfortable for the price we paid.

There was one more annoying thing at Mandarmani -- flies. Hundreds and thousands of them buzzing around you, wherever you went. The hotel staff said that the months of November and December were particularly bad because this is when fish is left out in the open to dry which attracts the flies. There was nothing we could do about it. So be warned and check the food before eating it. Also it is advisable to carry insect repellent.

Despite these annoyances we had a nice time. We would sit on the balcony at night and listen to the waves and enjoy the cool breeze. The beach is 13 km long and is an absolute pleasure to walk on or take a dip in the sea. The food is good. There is no dearth of fresh fish, prawns and crabs. But make sure you carry bottled water with you because the prices at the hotel were exorbitant.
