Other tips to decorate your house
Have a theme -- red and golden, yellow and silver. You don't need to change the entire upholstery, just throw in some colour coordinated pillows, hang saris or duppattas as curtains and use golden/silver laces to give the room a more festive look.
Use colourful foils to wrap diyas, candle stands or even as coasters.
Attach ghungroos, bells and trinkets on curtains or on railings and staircases in the house.
Tack on large sequins or mirrors, to tablecloths, curtains, cushion covers for a festive look.
