Kitchen

Don't leave the kitchen out this Diwali. Make it special by drawing a kitchen rangoli. You can use cereal, dals and other pulses, for that special touch.

Kunika Chandra shares her idea of creating unique candles/diyas in the kitchen by using oranges or limes. "Scoop out all the oranges and limes by carefully slicing the top of the fruit. Melt wax and pour it in the scooped shell. Leave it to get cold and if need be refrigerate it for some unique candles and diyas."

You can make festive table mats by decorating some handmade paper with golden lace and then laminating them. "I always add some mirrors, sequins and ghungroos to the table linen, during Diwali," says Kunika. "Last year I also coordinated the table lines by adding the diya motif on them," she adds.
