Drawing or Living Room

"I use lot of oranges, yellow and red in the drawing room, to get that festive look," says Sapna Mandke. Sometimes I use silk upholstery which is set aside for the festive occasions and on other days I use my silk sarees, duppatas and stoles to decorate the house.

Sapna also adds that marigold strings hung near the curtains or even around them, make a very interesting decoration. "In fact, I believe we should use flowers liberally in the drawing room. In addition to the flower arrangements in vases, we can use gajras in various corners, around candles etc and also float some flowers in a shallow bowl, along with some candles."

Flowers or colourful ribbons can also be used on door knobs, she adds. It's also necessary to make sure that there is no clutter in the room. Unwanted magazines, books or old newspapers should not be part of the drawing room to avoid any accidents, insists Pradnya.
