Lanterns, diyas and more

Pradnya Mehta, says she adds a series of mini lanterns, apart from the traditional kandil. "These tiny lanterns really add to the festivities, I also prefer the wax diyas to oil ones as they tend to me messier."

Pradnya also puts pot pourie or marigold flowers in some pot holders and hangs them near the door. "If I have some children coming over, then I put in some chocolates and hang them so that the children can reach for the treat," informs Pradnya.

Torans that adorn the archways are another must for getting the complete Diwali look. One can get floral torans too in the market. You can also use paper, junk jewelery or bangles to make torans for your home.
