Rangoli
Every household welcomes you with a rangoli during Diwali. You can use the traditional rangoli powder and colours, for an elaborate design. You can also get the rangoli pencils in the market. After filling the pencil with rangoli powder, you can use the pencil to make different patterns. Another option is the rangoli stencils, which are available in different designs -- flowers, leaves, intricate patterns and once you collect a few of these. You can vary the pattern according to your choice.

Fabric paints or poster colours also work for a rangoli. You can either use the floor or get a wooden slab polished and paint the rangoli pattern on it. By doing this, you can not only decorate the design using mirrors, glitter, beads and other decorative items but also move the rangoli around without disturbing the design.

If you have no artistic inclinations, you can always buy rangoli stickers from the market and decorate them with some flowers, for that special touch.
