Night camping on Mattupetty Hills
It was 11.30 am. I still had an hour and a half.
I decided to check out the Matupetty Dam (We had a bird's eye view of the dam while trekking the previous day).
It was a beautiful drive and there was no mist! I took some pictures and headed back to Munnar where I bought some home made chocolates and spices.
Airfare for Rs 599 and less!
I said my goodbyes to Sumesh and Ani who dropped me to the Kallada agent's office. We left Munnar at 1.30 pm and Kattapana around 4 pm.
On the way I learnt that Kumily is one of the largest suppliers of the famous Banana Chips in Kerala. I had just enough time to pick up a packet which I happily polished off on my way.
I reached Bangalore around 7 am, this time without any hiccups.
How to get there
By air: The nearest airports are at Madurai (135 km) and Cochin (140 km)
By train: The nearest railway station is at Theni (60 km), Changanacherry (93 km). Ernakulum Junction is 127 km away.
Mattupetty is 13 km from Munnar located at an altitude of 1700 m.
Where to stay
There are plenty of lodging options in Munnar like KTDC's Tea County, Copper Castle, BlackBerry Hills Mountain Lodges and Sterling Resorts. For more information, check www.hotelsinmunnar.com.
