Night camping on Mattupetty Hills

Eravikulam National Park is some 17 km from Munnar. The landscape was breathtaking and the roads in excellent condition.

I wonder how they manage to keep such good roads in Kerala despite the heavy rainfall they receive. (Our Bangalore authorities should go and get some tips from those guys!)

As I neared the Eravilukam National Park a heavy mist engulfed the area and soon it started to drizzle. The visibility was very poor.

Airfare for Rs 599 and less!

I reached the entrance but there was a long queue for tickets. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the park, one has to take the bus provided by the authorities. Upon enquiry I found out that it would take another hour for me to get the ticket!

With the visibility poor and not enough time I decided to head back to Munnar without getting a glimpse of one of the very well maintained national parks of our county and the elusive Nilgiri Thar.
