Losing my heart to the forest flame
Get Ahead reader Anirban Das shares his recent visit to Ayodhya Hills in Purulia, West Bengal.
It was a Friday. I was returning home from office and wondering what to do over the weekend when a few planted Palash (Butea monosperma/ Butea frondosa) trees alongside the road caught my attention.

It was spring and the trees where in full bloom. But somehow the beautiful flowers were not looking their best in the urban settings. An idea came to my mind: How about enjoying these beautiful flowers in their natural habitat?
I immediately called up a friend and planned the trip in a jiffy.
We decided to go to Ayodhya Hills, a popular trekking spot in Purulia district of West Bengal. It is 30 km away from Purulia town and about 350 km from Kolkata.
