Stop spamming others' accounts

June 26, 2008
Have people you know started declining your friend requests? Are mates who were once on your list now inaccessible to you?

Think a little, blockhead -- it may have something to do with all the junk you've been cramming everybody else's profile pages with every day. Sure, people enjoy the occasional smart quip or joke, but every little thing you find hilarious doesn't need to go out to all the 130 people on your list.

According to R Anil, a 26-year-old economics student from Chennai, the profusion of spam is one of social networking's big turn-offs. "On Orkut, most spam scraps seem to be some kind of mass scrap," he says. "On Facebook, on the other hand, they are tied to applications." Echoing the opinion of many users, he says that, "There is nothing more annoying than someone repeatedly inviting you to use an application!"

The message is clear: Get wise or be down-sized!
