Though they learned much by watching their Indian counterparts and absorbing the uniquely desi Salsa on display, the international instructors gave equally in return.
The workshops, spread out over three days, began with Salsa for beginners and ended with 'Crazy Combos' an advanced workshop taught by Mena and Matos. In between, there was a bit of everything: Tango for beginners, Jive, Cha Cha, Reggaeton, etc.
Perhaps the most interesting workshop was the intermediate ladies styling, conducted by Candy Mena. She taught the New York style of Salsa, which requires fluidity and grace, even when the body is contorted in all sorts of strange positions. "I'm very impressed with the results," she said. "I didn't think we'd be able to get very far in just one lesson, but they're all natural dancers. There are some very talented ladies here."
