'Indian students pick up the moves and rhythm so naturally and easily'

August 19, 2008
Candy, originally from the Dominican Republic, but raised in America and now residing in Italy, is a world class instructor. She compared her own experiences with Salsa to the emerging Indian form of the dance, again using the word potential.

"See, I danced from birth. Dance was very much a part of my childhood and teenaged years. But it wasn't until I was about 20 years old that I began taking lessons for Salsa. I feel that Indians are similar, because dance is so obviously a way of life here. Even if they haven't had years of formal training, the Indian students pick up the moves and rhythm so naturally and easily," she said.

"The Indian Salsa scene has limitless potential," she added. "They even have their own unique spin on Salsa, that's been influenced by the existing dance forms here. It's all very impressive."
