No time to rest

When I got off the bus at Barkal, I took a look at the mud path leading to the peak. It was in a bad shape due to the rains. The tractors carrying construction material for a power project coming up close by were adding their bit.

Airfare for Rs 599 and less!

I decided not to walk on the treacherous path and called Satisha, my guide, who arranged a jeep for me. In less than 10 minutes I was on my way through the mud track, to meet Satisha at Mullodi.

Mullodi is about 5 to 6 km from Barkal.

Satisha suggested it would be best to trek to the peak the same day, as it was a clear day. It had poured heavily the last two days. I was hesitant initially as I was a bit rusty after travelling all night. But better sense prevailed and I thought it better to heed the local guy's advice.
