Trekking to misty Kudremukh

For almost four years, Kudremukh was on my trekking hit list.

Located about 100 km from Chikmagalur, 130 km from Mangalore and 350 km from Bangalore, Kudremuch is part of the Kudremukh National Park in Karnataka.

Airfare for Rs 599 and less!

Kudremukh peak, at 1892 metres above sea level, is a trekker's paradise with 13 trekking trails.

I wanted to do this trek desperately, but due to various reasons things didn't work out. Until recently.

It is true when they say, 'Where there is a will there is a way.' I finally fixed the dates and told myself: I will do the trek, come what may!

So I started the preparations. First and foremost was getting permission from the forest department. I got some phone numbers from the Internet and called each one of them, but in vain.

Each had their own reason to not grant permission: Naxalite problem, rains. But the excuse that takes the cake was: 'No permission to give permission'!
