Every year, on April 1, publicist Jeff Barge releases a list of the year's Most Foolish Americans. It's the kind of thing -- based on a nationwide survey by the Opinion Research Group -- that celebrates the inane, the irritating, and the downright idiotic.

Here's a look at this year's top 5

1. Britney Spears

Ah, an obvious choice. In just the last few months, the onetime uber-hot pop princess got divorced, drove a car with her baby in her lap, went into a drug rehabilitation facility, packed on the pounds, attacked a paparrazzi vehicle, shaved her own head and made friends with Paris Hilton.
