MOVIES Star of stars At 32, Karan Johar has tasted success with each of his ventures. His first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, was a superhit. He followed it up with Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. He couldn't have planned a grander movie. In 2003, he handed over the director's mantle to assistant Nikhil Advani, content to produce and write the story for Kal Ho Naa Ho. Set in New York City, the movie attracted some flak but audiences everywhere loved the film. Box-office cash registers are still ringing for KHNH, the year's biggest hit. Text: Sita Menon
