Ambanis are the richest!

The richest Indians of 2003 showed a return to the old economy though the new economy was not far behind. We present this year's richest 10:
1. Mukesh and Anil Ambani, chairman and vice chairman, Reliance Industries Ltd, Rs 30,322 crore (Rs 303.22 billion).
2. Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro, Rs 28,352 crore (Rs 283.52 billion);
3. Sunil Mittal, chairman, Bharti Group, Rs 7,260 crore (Rs 72.6 billion);
4. Shiv Nadar, chairman, HCL Technologies, Rs 6,473 crore (Rs 64.73 billion);
5. Malvinder and Shivender Singh, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Rs 5,953 crore (Rs 59.53 billion);
6. Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman, AV Birla Group, Rs 4,033 crore (Rs 40.33 billion);
7. Dilip Shanghvi, chairman, Sun Pharmaceutical, Rs 3,900 crore (Rs 39 billion.)
8. Anil Agarwal, chairman, Sterlite Industries, Rs 3,567 crore (Rs 35.67 billion);
9. Subhash Chandra, chairman, Zee Telefilms, Rs 3,088 crore (Rs 30.88 billion); and,
10. Rahul Bajaj, chairman, Bajaj Auto, Rs 2,858 crore (Rs 28.58 billion).

Out of the list are K Anji Reddy (Dr Reddy's) and Karsanbhai Patel (Nirma) due to changes in the stock prices of their companies this year
