After the reasonable success of the Urmila Matondkar-Fardeen Khan-Sonali Kulkarni starrer Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, director Rajat Mukherjee is back to making another film (Road) under the Ram Gopal Varma banner.

Initially, Urmila Matondkar and Saif Ali Khan were roped in to play the lead parts. Later, Mukherjee decided to cast relative newcomers.
